Lechlade 2020 – The hottest festival around

Get ready to party this summer, with three amazing days and nights at this award-winning family festival alongside the Thames

Get ready to party at Lechlade this 22-24 May (the late May bank holiday weekend), with the return of everyone’s fave family festival. Following last year’s event with bumper record numbers of festival-goers, this year’s promises to be even bigger, whilst sticking to the festival’s roots as a family friendly event. For the festival’s 10th year celebrations, think comedy, camping, boutique glamping, free music, dance and craft workshops, circus skills tent and burlesque – and with fab food, real ales, stalls and rides, what more could you ask for?

Ready for the fun stuff? The line up, as ever, is tip top with over 100 performers, and headlining are…wait for it…The Boomtown Rats and Alexandra Burke. The Boomtown Rats have recently announced a new album to be released in March, with the first single from the album released to much acclaim earlier this year. The band will headline the festival on Sunday night.

On Saturday night, Brit-nominee and West End star Alexandra Burke headlines. “We’re so thrilled to be able to announce two fantastic headliners’, says Festival Director Jennie Rainsford, “this is our 10th year and we wanted to mark the occasion with something special. The line-up is looking absolutely brilliant, we still have many acts to announce.”

Don’t miss JK as Robbie Williams on Friday night, the world’s number one tribute act to the big guy himself. JK has played to over 2 million people live throughout 15 different countries and appeared on major tv channels and radio channels throughout the world. He has even been recognised by the man himself and performed with Robbie’s Dad Pete, who appears on his promo video.

Across the weekend, head bang to Guns or Roses, the ultimate tribute to the Hollywood hellraisers, Trashed, Bristol’s dose of 90’s influenced punk rock, as well as IDestroy, Son of Cabe, Bleedin’ Noses, Jetstream and more. Watch this space for the line up.

Elsewhere, the stupendously popular Missy Malone and Friends Burlesque Revue returns with a little bit of tease and titillation (oo er) with their glorious cabaret show, although we promise you it’s all sleek and chic and done in the best possible taste. If comedy’s more your thing, Lechlade will rock you with laughter on the funny stage. The Comedy Tent offers an alternative form of entertainment on the Friday and Saturday night; sponsored by Edwards Bays Ltd, it boasts a lively line-up of stand up and comedy musicians. Line up to follow.

Fancy a splurge? You’ll find loads of local traders including Pip’s Vintage Emporium, eco-friendly Bagz-n-Bitz and handmade purses and pencil cases from Pretty Craft, as well as Cap Custom Guitars, Karma Gear, Hippie & Chic, and loads more. Don’t forget the Mudlets – there’s lots of free fun stuff for them including street dance, storytelling, arts and crafts, music workshops, belly dancing, a play tent, yoga, pilates and circus skills, natch. They’ve even got paper aeroplane competitions and woodland learning.

Don’t fancy camping? Get the VIP treatment and treat yourself to a boutique camping experience with Brook Bell Tents, who provide gorgeous glamping on the riverfront field. Choose from The Classic or The Luxury package – either way it’s pretty posh here, with your own private loos, free phone charging and complimentary tea and coffee throughout the event. There’s even a communal chill out space to meet up, hang out and relax. Book here.
