3 cool new Netflix shows
Suddenly TV is the centre of my world! Isolate yourself with the Netflix remote and watch these corkers pronto.
There’s sooo much brilliant TV around at the moment and a huge proportion of it comes courtesy of Netflix. (Can you remember life before Netflix? No, us neither). We don’t have a watercooler at Muddy HQ (well, we do but we tend to call it ‘the tap’), however if we did these are the must-see shows we’d be enthusiastically discussing around it.
If you are a sporty type, watch … Cheer
Must admit I’ve always hated the idea of cheerleading: the girls relegated to the sideline, looking cute, while the boys do serious business of sport? Yuck. Well, how wrong was I – this incredible documentary series follows America’s most accomplished college cheerleading squad. There’s a mix of boys and girls on the team, it’s a competitive sport in its own right and they are astonishingly focused athletes, despite many coming from challenging backgrounds. If you’ve got a sporty child, it’s an inspiring one to watch together – my gymnast daughter and I can’t get enough right now.
If you are over Love Island, watch … Love Is Blind
One Muddy staffer who shall rename nameless nailed all 10 episodes of this in one weekend – it’s that addictive. It’s an American dating show where participants aren’t allowed to clap eyes on their potential partner – instead they chat and build a rapport while separated by a screen. And then they get engaged… before they’ve even met face-to-face. Will anyone go through with the wedding? Will people literally do anything to get on telly? Yes it’s nuts, no we can’t stop watching.
If you love a thriller, watch … The Stranger
Richard Armitage (who you might remember as smouldering MI5 agent Lucas North in Spooks) plays a dad who’s got it all – loving wife, two lovely sons and an idyllic family life. Everything changes, however, when a mysterious stranger in a bar tells him a secret about his wife. This compelling 8-part British adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel reveals a dark conspiracy at work. Two Muddy staffers have already been sucked in, with more due to follow in the coming weeks.
