Superflashy Newsflash

If it's new, exciting and happening in the Glos & Worcs 'hood, it's right here. Cue the trumpeter, all hail the Muddy newsflash with some delicious gossip - from a brand new boutique cinema to foodie news that will have you drooling.

First up, hotter than hot new restaurant news …

If you’ve walked past the long-empty West Cornwall Pasty Shop in the heart of Cirencester recently you may have wondered what on earth was moving in there. Well we have the answer and it’s got us VERY excited.

Sam Edwards and Jak Doggett returning to their home town to open their latest bar and restaurant experience. Known to most simply as Sam, 32 and Jak, 28, the pair have been running the brilliant Upton Firehouse for the last three years, taking it from a buffet to a destination dining hotspot, regularly booked out and doing over 150 covers a service.  They have plans to transform the shop into a three-storey breakfast, lunch and dinner venue with bar. Both have worked with renowned chef – Bob Parkinson of Bibendum, London, David Thompson and a Michelin Bib Gourmand winner in his own right. Look out for its big opening in November.

New boutique cinema opens

Big news for movie lovers, the hotly anticipated TIVOLI cinema has now opened in the heart of Cheltenham. A fabulously boutique-style of cinema experience there are four screens, high-tech laser projection and luxe sofa seating, erm, including day beds in the front row! It’s about as stylish as film-going could be, with Ralph Lauren wallpaper and a 32-seat Director’s Lounge available for private hire (with electric foot rests built into the seats and laptop points). The lounge bar area is a level up too, with barista coffee, posh versions of classic cinema snacks, from wild boar hot dogs to sourdough pizza and even movie-themed cocktails. And at just £15 a ticket (off peak) we’re going to be making a beeline for this fabulous place pronto.

Cake heaven coming your way

KNEAD 2.0 is coming to Tetbury. Lovers of KNEAD’s salted caramel and honeycomb doughnuts will be celebrating after owner Kris Briggs revealed to Muddy a new KNEAD is opening this autumn on Long Street.

The team will be offering all the usual bakes, cakes, patisseries, salads and of course firm favourites doughnuts at this second shop in the burgeoning baking empire. Get down there as soon as it opens.

Wine, dine and get thoroughly entertained …

Spotted! … Netflix spotted filming in Chippy Campden

Netflix is in Glos! The upcoming supernatural detective series, “Lockwood & Co” has officially begun production on its debut season and it was spotted filming this week in the middle of Chipping Campden. The cast is tightly under wraps atm, but it’s due to air 2022. The series is based on the best-selling books by Jonathan Stroud and the first season will have 8 episodes and will follow Lucy Carlyle, a young psychic investigator at the agency of Lockwood & Co., London’s smallest psychic detective agency. Tipped to be a great family watch.

Brand new interiors shop alert

Well, primp our flouncy sleeves and throw the leather trews our way … the fabulous LLB (Laurence Llewelyn Bowen obvs) is back baby (Changing Rooms, Weds, C4, 8pm). But more importantly he has also just opened a flagship new store in the heart of Cirencester. Go along and stroke his velvety fabrics and peruse his nick nacks. And if you want to LLB your own home there’s even a design service on demand here.

New bar on the block

Yippee! There’s a brand new café-bar and orangery opening at Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.

Hot on the heels of the popular temporary Garden Bar at Imperial Gardens, which replaced the garden marquee, orangery-dining is soo where it’s at for 2021, we think the new Pump Room bar is going to be the place to wine and dine when it opens on Friday 1 October 2021.

And finally …famous Cotswold church has one of the UK’s ‘most influential’ doors

Recognise this? It’s St Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold, and it has been revealed as one of the most influential doors in the UK. Beating the likes of Downing Street and The Bank of England in London, the 13th century door was ranked number five on the list of the 10 most influential doors in the country – based on its Instagram presence. Framed by two spectacularly formed Yew trees and thought to go back to the Middle Ages it’s rumoured to have influenced J.R.R. Tolkein’s Doors of Durin from The Lord of the Rings.
