Want to up your pancake game this year? We love a cracking pancake stack at Muddy Glos (ok, well, apart from the ones peeling off our ceiling). Luxe Cafe, Cirencester
The most instagrammable cafe in Glos has added pancake stacks to its menu this year and they are pretty epic, go for Biscoff drizzled American-style pancakes and you won’t regret it.
Oh Crepe! Five Valleys Market, Stroud
Watch your crepes being freshly made in front of your eyes (as you drool) at Five Valleys; Stroud’s hipster hawkers food market. Go for a nutella classic or get wild with toppings like The Popeye with cheddar cheese, pine nuts, spinach and red onion chutney, the Sir Francis Bacon with French brie, streaky bacon and sweet chilli jam; and Mont Blanc with white chocolate sauce, fresh strawberries and meringue. Sound amazing? They are.
Pancake Heaven, Yanto’s Pancake House, Gloucester
If you prefer your kitchen walls and ceiling batter-free then head to Yanto’s Pancake House to have them cooked by the pros. This mouth-watering haven is the first of its kind in Glos and serves up a smorgasbord of sweet and savoury pancakes. We’re crushing on the Kale, Ginger and Chilli pancakes (£7.95) and their Cookie Monster special (Oreo-tastic and sprinkled with toffee sauce). There are dairy, vegan and gluten free options too. And if that’ still not enough crazy carbs for you, book a full on Pancake Party.
Posh Pancakes, The Ivy, Cheltenham
Drag yourself out of pancake-making servitude and whisk yourself off to The Ivy Montpellier. The most decadently gorgeous foodie interior in Glos, with a great sideline in pancakes. Order yourself a stack of Hot Buttermilk Pancakes (£8.95), famed around these parts, they come laden with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries (totally cancels out the calories) and come laced with Greek yoghurt, lemon balm and warm strawberry sauce.
The Old Stocks Inn, Stow-on-the-Wold
If you love American-style pancakes head for this characterful 17th century inn in lovely Stow for a massive stack of them loaded up with crispy bacon, maple syrup, or both together, then walk off the carbs around follow this lovely town.
SISU Pancakes, Cheltenham
SISU Pancakes was created from owner Laura’s childhood dream for a pancake cake on her birthday! And today she creates incredible pancake cakes and pancake rolls stacked high and sandwiched with buttercream in a range of flavours including Oreo, Biscoff and Nutella. Then head home with one of their signature dry pancake mix to whip up at home.
The Curious Cafe, Cheltenham
This cool cafe on the Bath Road serves up 4 generous buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, fresh fruit and Chantilly cream, or two rashers of bacon – with plenty of extras like hash browns, avocado and sausages, from £8.50 for a stack.
The Jinney Ring, Hanbury, Worcs
There’s a special all-day pancake pig out on offer at the Jinney Ring craft centre, get crafty with the kids (or yourself) then do pancakes for breakfast, lunch and tea! Banana and chocolate ganache and Strawberry Smash get our vote and the lunchtime Smoked Haddock and Broccoli pairings sound delicious too, all priced from £5.50.
The Lavender Bakehouse, Chalford, Stroud
This popular local cafe in Chalford serves up delicious buttermilk pancakes teamed either with sweet maple syrup and fresh fruit, or American-style with crispy bacon, from £6.50. Very kid and dog-friendly it’s a lovely place to eat some sweet treats before a stroll along the nearby canal.

Pancake Race, Dursley, Tue 01 March
Is it Pancake Day without a race? Head to Parsonage Street in Dursley town centre. ‘Heats’ will be held with the qualifying fastest runners reaching the grand final. ‘Best Flipper’ Pancake Flipping Competition, Gloucester Quays
Gloucester Quays cookware outlet ProCook is hosting a pancake flipping competition on 25 February in the run-up to Shrove Tuesday. Competitive shoppers and crepe-olympians can try to toss as many pancakes as they can in 60 seconds. The annual “Best Flipper” event is being held at both the Gloucester Quays and Cirencester ProCook outlets and anyone can have a go, with the winner walking away with a shiny new ProCook crepe pan – just in time for Pancake Day! The champion will be able to choose any pan from the ProCook crepe skillet range, worth between £8.99 and £34.
When you’re done there, head across the way to Bills for a feast of all day pancakes, dishing up a mix of sweet and savoury options from strawberry, blueberry and banana to smoky streaky bacon pancakes, all drizzled with Bill’s syrup.
Cotswold Creperie, Bibury, Glos
Pancakes are for life – not just for Pancake Day. And we LOVE this groovy, crepe service from pancake purveyors, Cotswold Creperie. Book a drive-by pancake fest at your next birthday, get-together or wedding from this cute Piaggio Ape. The lovely husband and wife team are specialists in both sweet and savoury crepes, we adore the Goats Cheese and Spinach, and a Nutella and Strawberry special they do. Served up in cute little cardboard cornets, they also sell teas, coffees and divine hot chocolate lavished with marshmallows and whipped cream.
