What the fashion pack are wearing this NYE

Going out-out all dressed up is off the cards, but we are determined to rock the frock in our own living rooms over the festive period.

Just because you’ve only got the kids / cat / hamsters to impress this year over the smoked salmon blinis, doesn’t mean you have to cancel your sense of style (not on our watch).

Want some inspo for the big day? Help is at hand. We asked the owners of two super-cool Cotswold boutiques what they will be wearing on Christmas Day and NYE. Here’s what they said …

Sue Parkinson, and Sally Parkinson, co-owners of Sue Parkinson, a lifestyle boutique in Cirencester.

Sue says:

“If you can’t add a bit of lurex on Christmas day, when can you? I’ve had my eye on this Marella dress (£170) all season and decided to take the plunge for the big day, I think it’s gorgeous and can’t wait to wear it.

“This cosy cardi from Des Petits Hauts (£161) layered over will keep me cosy for our annual family Christmas day walk.”

“I’m a big fan of these Pernille Corydon necklaces (£48) so I’ll be treating myself to one with my initial on it.”

Sally says:

“On the 25th I like to go for a more amped up version of my day-to-day look, so this amazing Harmony polo frill top from designer brand High (£203) is what I’ll be wearing, which is great for hiding all that turkey and chocolate!

“I’ll team it with a pair of Scamper Trousers from High too (£245), as I live the playful kick on these and they are so comfy for present opening.

“However I’ll be jazzing it all up with these gorgeous snakeskin stilettos from Kennel & Schmenger (£117). Just enough to feel glam!”

Sue says:

“To mark the end of a strange old year, I’ll be adding a bit of extra detail to an all-black ensemble. This cosy but chic Derhy jumper (£46) is a great way to make a simple outfit more special.

“I’ll be teaming it up with these lovely French-look Garbo trousers from Second Female (£69.30) and a pair of low heels – something comfortable enough for a bit of dancing round the living room!

Sally says:

“I’m going to celebrate the end of this year by really glamming up, this gold lamé dress by Swildens (£189) is like liquid and perfect for dinner then dancing at home with my husband and daughter.

“I’m going to team it up with this Iris Belt in Gold from Nooki (£25). I love the look of this outfit.

“And for jewellery I’ll be wearing these Nahua Lorie earrings (£89) which I adore.”

Louise Aiken is the owner of Sub Couture, with boutiques in Stroud’s Five Valleys and Notting Hill.

Louise says:

“In the run up to Christmas this year I will be donning a splash of colour as we all need some Christmas cheer as we head round outside my friend’s houses to drop off cards and gifts.

My favourite faux khaki leather and tiger fur cut in acid green from Urban Code is fabulous, long and warm and also reversible if the weather should turn. Neon tiger is what it’s about!

“I’ll be teaming it with chunky Patrizia Pepe boots (£328) that make you rock with a good grip for those icy paths and these beautiful Mabel Sheppard Rainbow leather gloves (£49) to keep your hands warm and give an important nod to the NHS finishing the look off nicely.”

“On Christmas Day itself, looking good while eating a mince pie and a cup of mulled cider is important!

“So I will be wearing my Vegan Faux Leather Shirt Dress (£80) by Rino and Pelle mainly so that when I’m cooking all day I can still look fabulous and if I spill anything it will wipe off easily.

“Keeping the look smart I will dress up my outfit with a pair of rock chick earrings (£228) from Sophie Harley that match my bright red lipstick so I can look glamorous for all those Zoom and Facetime calls.

“If I feel like curling up later in front of a festive film I can layer easily with my star sparkling Jeff cardigan (£120) keeping me super cosy.”

“NYE for me is the perfect excuse to bring out my Stardust Metallic Sunset Wrap Dress (£156) to ensure it is all about the glitter while I dance around the kitchen to the wonderful Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

“For my midnight dash around to wave through windows at my sister and nearest and dearest, I will be wrapping up with my fabulous Rino & Pelle HIPKE Chunky Check Blanket Scarf (£23).

“I’ll also be wearing my Rino & Pelle Winter White Reversible Faux Fur Vegan Leather Coat so I will be warm and dry and obviously looking fierce and ready to take on 2021 with style confidence optimism!”
