Thrill out at Aztec Adventure’s Activity Centres
No need to drive all the way to the coast for some water-based action, say hello to one of Worcs best kept secrets - a spectacular aquapark where you can bounce, slide, boat and glide.
To say we need some excitement after a year of zero fun in lockdown is an understatement. So when we discovered the Aztec Adventure Water Park right here on our Muddy doorstep in Worcestershire we couldn’t hit ‘book’ quick enough!
Want to find out what you can do at these fantastic boating and activity centres and when? Read on for the lowdown on this brilliant, action-packed day out. (Plus scroll to the bottom to WIN! 2 FREE FAMILY PASSES)
Where do we find it?
Choose from two sites: Upton Warren near Bromsgrove has an inflatable Aquapark Course course and boating lake. It’s the ideal place to enjoy watersports with a 20 acre lake, perfect for both learners and improvers looking to develop their skills on the water. Or, head for Lower Moor near Pershore which has a beautiful crystal clear, spring-fed boating lake for activities.
Someone take us there now! When does it open?
Both Aztec Adventure Upton Warren and Aztec Adventure Lower Moor sites reopen on Good Friday (Friday 2nd April) – just in time for the school holidays *phew*. The Aqua Park reopens on Saturday 1st May.
What can we do there?
Love the water? You’ll be in heaven here. As well as the Aqua Park you can hire a stand up paddleboard and a single or double ‘sit on top’ kayak. You can also launch your own if you want to bring one. A great idea for meeting up with groups of 6 (or two households) and under from 29 March.
Tell me what’s bookable, I’m primed and ready …
Available at both sites, from Friday 2nd April, open daily during school holidays, weekends and bank holidays. Suitable for ages 3 and over. You can hire boats and kayaks for individuals, families, couples, or why not even get some one-to-one tuition.
Stand Up Paddleboard
Single boards are available to hire. Cost £15 for 1 hour.
‘Sit On Top’ Kayaking
Paddle around the lake in a kayak for between one and three people. Explore nature from a different perspective! A single costs £10 for 1 hour and double £15 for 1 hour, and the price is per craft.
Spot on for enjoyment or fitness, and such a peaceful way to see the lake (especially if someone else is rowing). Costs £25 for 1 hour, price is per craft.
Are there any school holiday courses we can book?
Yes, available at both sites. Although you’ll have to be quick because they are filling up fast. Courses are suitable for ages 8 – 15 and are a really fun way to spend the holidays in the fresh air. They take place over half terms, Easter and the Summer so book ahead.
The multi activity courses include a mix of land and water activities, these could include: canoeing, kayaking, raft building, climbing, archery, tunnels and orienteering. Activities are decided on the day by the instructor and vary on location. All instructors are DBS checked and qualified to various activity governing bodies.
What about sailing courses? We rather fancy that.
Absolutely, there are Children’s and Adult’s RYA Sailing Courses and BC Paddling Courses available at Aztec Adventure Upton Warren, during weekends and school holidays.
The kids sailing course is suitable for children aged 8-15 years. RYA Stage 1–4. Kids Paddling is for children aged 8-15 years.
For the big kids (adults) sailing courses are for 16 years + and RYA Level 1, 2 & 3. You can even do an Adults Powerboat course, suitable for 16 years + RYA Powerboat Level 2.
I’m ready for the adrenalin, tell me more about the Aqua Park?
The Aqua Park opens from Saturday 1st May, daily during school holidays, weekends and bank holidays. It’s suitable for ages 6 years plus, including adults (make sure children are over 122cm tall).
An utterly fun and fabulous inflatable course, it measures an impressive 2,000 square metres. Bounce, slide, jump and generally whoop your way around each slippery obstacle, and try and beat the kids at their own game.
Anything else I can try?
Ah yes. Ever tried open water swimming? Well now’s your chance. New for 2021 at Upton Warren this exhilarating activity is all the rage right now. Great for body and mind, it’s a nice (if nippy) way to get your exercise. Don a wetsuit and you won’t even notice the chill! Take a leisurely swim around a 400 metre course. Suitable only for 18s and over, and available from Saturday 1st May. Every Saturday 07:00 – 08:30 and Wednesday 18:30 – 20:00 until September.
Can I refuel after all that? I’m starving!
Absolutely. The Boat Shack Café and the Beach Bus at Upton Warren are fantastic for hot sandwiches, burgers, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, afternoon teas and cakes and ice creams. They offer a wide selection of hot and cold drinks including milkshakes, teas and coffee. See more here.
Are the Activity Centres Covid-safe?
Extremely. Safety measures in place include; hand sanitising stations all around the site; boats disinfected between users; marquees for male and female changing; wetsuits disinfected between customers, and a greatly reduced capacity to ensure easy social distancing.
I’m in! …where do I sign up?
Head to the Aztec Adventure booking site. Please note that all bookings are done online, and no entry is given on site to those who have not booked activities.
For more info on both sites, see Aztec Adventure’s handy flip book here.
