The Fish Hotel, Broadway
A stunning back-to-nature bolthole with a giant helping of luxury, this Cotswold Hotel is a stylish retreat with outdoor fun on tap.
The Fish Hotel sets out to redefine the phrase ‘country hotel, part grand house, part village-style retreat with a huge dash of outdoor activities to get stuck into (if you can leave the sumptuous bedrooms!).
Stylish but not pretentious, The Fish is your back-to-nature bolt-hole with a little touch of luxury. Starting from just £150 a night, there are 63 contemporary country bedrooms spread throughout three buildings – The Farmhouse, The Outhouse and The Stables.
Plus, new for 2020 are three spectacular arboreal retreats (that’s treehouses to you and me!), which are the coolest places ever to stay, with en suite bathrooms, underfloor heating, Nespresso machines and remarkably well-stocked minibars.
The Fish loves dogs, and some of the bedrooms are dog-friendly too, they even provide a bed, bowl, towel and treats, with pooches also welcome in the bar. The lovely open plan feel of The Fish make it one of Muddy’s favourite places to while away an afternoon. Take up a couch, sit by the fire, smash the kids at a board game or try out table football or one of the free retro arcade games. Chic indoor chimeras give a lovely modern feel to the bar too.
Head to Hook, outside in the grounds, where there’s a menu of the finest, freshest responsibly sourced fish, sustainable shellfish and a few timeless classics from the land. Set in 400-acres of private Cotswold Estate it would be a shame not to make the most of the countryside, so why not go on a Segway Safari, explore in an all-terrain vehicle, or try your hand at axe throwing and archery!
And, if you want a spa experience to top it all off you can book a relaxing treatment at fabulous sister hotel Dormy House just next door.
