The Hyde at Netherwood Estate, Stoke Bliss

If gazing out onto idyllic Worcestershire countryside with every home comfort and total privacy are on your wishlist, The Hyde is getaway catnip.

Weekend Escapes

Looking for a private retreat far from the madding crowd? The Hyde is a unique bolthole nestled in the middle of the bucolic Worcestershire countryside and ticks every box for a gorgeous getaway.

With nine unique bedrooms, all beautifully decorated with antique furniture and full of period details you can choose from ‘Comfy’ which have ensuite bathrooms or ‘Capacious’ the loveliest and largest rooms in the main house all of which have a real sense of history, ensuite bathrooms, and several have roll-top baths..

Set amidst the idyllic countryside of the Herefordshire-Worcestershire borders, at the end of the mile long drive within the secluded 1,200 acre Netherwood Estate, The Hyde nestles around a courtyard bordered by an imposing Elizabethan barn.

This Grade II* normally sleeps 12 in the main house and a further 8 in the adjacent cottage (only a few feet away) but a limit of 6 per residence is currently in force with Covid restrictions.  Both have been skilfully restored to a high standard with the help of English Heritage, think meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship making this 13th Century hall house a totally dreamy place to stay.

You can enjoy a large open plan modern kitchen with masses of work space and large table, equipped to a very high standard to satisfy even the most demanding cook including an American style fridge-freezer, two dishwashers (who wants to wash up on holiday?), professional Falcon range oven, nespresso machine and separate wine fridge.

The Hyde has a large, totally secluded garden that includes a lovely south-facing terrace, tennis court, a mini maze, a wendy house and a tree house. The Grade II* Elizabethan barn on the other side of the courtyard houses a ping-pong table as well as a croquet set and some children’s bicycles.

There are walks around the farm that guests are welcome to use, as well as a stocked trout lake. The Hyde is offering its current prices based for groups of up to 6 (or a household bubble) from now until mid-December 2020 with the exception of the half-term holiday between 16th October – 1st November where different pricing is in place.

Or, book into sister house, The Freeth, which has its own indoor, heated swimming pool! This beautiful house has nine bedrooms available for bookings for exclusive use only by groups. The Freeth was originally a hunting lodge on the edge of the ancient Netherwood Estate and its medieval deer park but has been lovingly restored and transformed into a stylishly furnished and incredibly comfortable house. It is hidden away up a no-through road surrounded by some of the most unspoilt, beautiful countryside imaginable.

And, if you want a night off from the stove, why not book in for a meal out nearby. Also on the Estate is Pensons which is open for dining from Wednesdays to Sundays. Pensons is an Michelin Star ingredient-led restaurant with indoor dining and an outdoor terrace with stunning views over the Estate. Serving stand-out seasonal food this destination restaurant is a must-visit, a modern, rural fine-dining experience.
