Going anywhere nice on your holiday?
How about one of these gorgeous self-catering properties in the South West? Pretty as a pic, PLUS they all come with the option for learning or a wellbeing fix.
It’s January, it’s drizzling and it’s dark by 4pm which means it’s time for holiday porn, right?
If you’re starting to ponder a summer jaunt then take a look at this lovely line-up of properties in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, courtesy of luxury self-catering letting agency Perfect Stays. They offer a curated selection of chichi South West holiday rentals, ranging from a romantic cottage for two to seven-bedroom pads suitable for big gangs of friends or several families. And, let’s face it, given all the uncertainly over – sorry, I’m going to say the B-word – Brexit, a staycation seems a very safe bet this summer.
What’s more, all the sexy houses in my edit below come with added extras – either an experience, a chance to learn a new skill or a way turbo-charge for your wellbeing. Hmm, maybe we should just book all of them.
Tregarthen, New Polzeath, North Cornwall
This sleek, modern gem sleeps 8-10 and is close to surfing mecca, Polzeath Beach. Once you’ve finished pretending you’re in Point Break, you can take an in-house cookery class lead by top local chefs. They’ll teach your anything from classic French cookery to Cornish shellfish to patisserie.
Kirrin, Studland, Dorset
How gorgeous is this? With its glam Art Deco interiors, this four-bedroom property has an Upper East Side penthouse feel. There’s loads to do in this chic coastal corner of Dorset, and you can explore the Jurassic coastline on foot, horseback (check you out, Poldark!) or even kayak. After all that exercise head to Muddy favourite, The Pig On The Beach just down the road to refuel.
Waterside in Salcombe, South Devon
Teleport me to that balcony and that bottle of Champagne right now, please! With its pretty estuary views, modern decor (I love the rustic wooden walls in the kitchen) and cinema room, it’ll be hard to tear yourself away from this stylish retreat. But make sure you do – guests get unlimited use of the Salcombe Harbour Hotel’s spa, which is just next door. with its indoor pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna and gym.
Trelawn in Harlyn Bay, North Cornwall
The most important thing to note here is this bright and breezy five-bedroom house has got a hot tub. But once you’ve gone fully prune, it’s time to try something different. You’re ideally placed here for the acclaimed Harlyn Surf School, or you could try stand-up paddle boarding or coasteering (it’s a thing apparently!). The hot tub will still be there when you come back.
The Nook near Rock, North Cornwall
OK, despatch the kids to their grandparents, we’re getting romantic. There’s a lot of lurrve in the room at this brand new one-bedroom luxury cottage hideaway, in a rugged, secluded pocket of North Cornwall. Available from Easter, it’s got a hot tub with country views, a rolltop bath and private garden. As for wellbeing-based activities, erm, I’ll leave that to your imagination!
