<p>Hugged by lush green hills and sitting on the Cotswolds Way, Dursley offers all the perks of a buzzing market town with the added bonus of nature trails and breathtaking views on your doorstep. This place has a strong arty streak, attracting a talented, bohemian community of creators, crafters and artists. The town centre is a lovely place to wander, centered around a picturesque 18th century Town Hall. </p>



<p>There&#8217;s little surprise it&#8217;s a magnet for families wanting to settle in the county, as well as being well connected to Bristol and a train station into London, it scores highly on great facilities including having a pool and leisure centre. There&#8217;s some serious money being pumped into the town, which can be seen in former Lister&#8217;s factory site at Littlecombe now being the single largest regeneration site in Gloucestershire (which means more homes) and the town&#8217;s Rednock School with its £30m revamp.</p>

<p>There are a handful of stand out pubs here including <a href="http://www.oldspotinn.co.uk/">The Old Spot </a>at the bottom of Stinchcombe Hill which is a previous CAMRA pub of the year. And <a href="https://www.oldfoxatcoaley.co.uk/">The Old Fox at Coaley</a> just nearby is an award-winning traditional village pub perfect for Sunday lunch, with a gorgeous garden terrace to sit out on. </p>



<p>Go to <a href="https://www.dellacasarestaurant.com/">Della Casa</a> for authentic pasta and pizza, or transport yourself to Nepal with a mouth-watering meal at <a href="https://www.everestofnepal.com/">The Everest.</a> For café seekers try <a href="https://leafandground.com/">Leaf &amp; Ground</a> which has an excellent deli and locally sourced menu, and barista coffee at <a href="http://www.bankcafe.uk/">Bank Café</a> where you can chill out on big sofas with a good read from the bookcase. Newly opened last year, <a href="https://parsonage53.co.uk/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw2ou2BhCCARIsANAwM2F1Taj-309NiB0nLHgn-EGcwDG5-z1jD1tmMf-lFRsKdTazMwpsKY8aAjwTEALw_wcB">Parsonage 53</a> is a bistro with a delicious, modern menu.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a pretty good scattering of shops here, from general stores to a pet shop, butchers, antique shop and gift shops. There are two guitar shops and two bike shops including <a href="https://www.deltabikes.com/">Delta Bikes </a>which has wheels on sale from £50 to £5,000. There are two big supermarkets (Sainsburys and Lidl) on the outskirts. Once a month stock up on locally sourced artisan food and drink at the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/dursleyfarmersmarket/">Dursley Farmers Market</a> held at the Town Hall.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p>You won&#8217;t have to go far for some pamper time. There are a handful of <a href="https://www.bellabeauty.co.uk/">beauty salons </a> and hair salons located in and around the town as well as a solid number of doctors and dentists. <a href="https://www.pulsedursley.co.uk/">The Pulse</a> is a one stop leisure centre with an indoor pool and loads of fitness and wellbeing classes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-community">COMMUNITY</h2>



<p>You&#8217;ll find lots of activities going on in the town year round, including <a href="https://www.dursleytowncouncil.gov.uk/summer-festival-2024">Dursley Summer Festival</a>, and Festive Dursley organises a popular Christmas Light Switch on festival every year.</p>

<p>You&#8217;re not more than 15 mins from thrills in this town. <a href="http://www.berkeley-castle.com/">Berkeley Castle</a>  is just a few minutes west, with tons to do for the kids, <a href="http://www.forestry.gov.uk/westonbirt">Westonbirt Arboretum</a> is a few miles away, home to 2,500 different species from the far corners of the globe and five national tree collections, plus don&#8217;t miss the 30ft high SkyWalk that takes you through the tree canopy. For animals and adventure head to <a href="https://www.cattlecountry.co.uk/">Cattle Country Farm Park</a> in Berkeley which has a petting barn, splash pool and the UK&#8217;s largest scramble net. Wildlife lovers will also want to put <a href="http://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/slimbridge/">Wildfowl &amp; Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge</a> on their list, an award-winning haven and wetland paradise.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-culture">CULTURE</h2>



<p>Get arty and crafty at <a href="http://www.kingshillhouse.org.uk/">Kingshill House Arts Centre</a> or the nationally acclaimed <a href="http://www.dursleyglos.org.uk/html/dursley/heritage/heritage.htm">Prema Arts Centre</a> both of which feature regular exhibitions, workshops and wellbeing classes. You also can&#8217;t miss the &#8216;marmite&#8217; library built with an quirky angled glass look in the heart of the town. Every year Dursley plays host to one of the toughest challenges in competitive car trials, Stroud Motor Club’s <a href="https://stroudanddistrictmotorclub.co.uk/">Cotswold Clouds Trial</a> which you can watch from the sidelines.</p>

<p>Dursley has a <em>Grand Designs</em> claim to fame. There&#8217;s a fabulously quirky, 40ft high <a href="https://www.standard.co.uk/homesandproperty/interiors/grand-designs-series-16-kevin-mccloud-falls-for-dursley-treehouse-in-gloucestershire-a104821.html">anti-gravity treehouse</a> built on an abandoned garden site hidden away between between the supermarket car park and the Methodist church. Also, on Easter Day annually crowds flock at Cam Peak nearby to take part in an age-old tradition of rolling boiled eggs down the hill!</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a good choice of preschools in and around the town. Among them, located in the grounds of Dursley C of E Primary Academy, you&#8217;ll find the <a href="https://www.steppingstonesdursley.co.uk/">Stepping Stones Preschool</a>. Or try the <a href="http://www.ukfdn.co.uk/">Upper Knapp Farm Day Nursery</a> set in a beautiful 16th century building for children aged 6 wks – 5 yrs.</p>

<p>No shortage of great schools here with Osted rated Good <a href="https://www.dursleycofeprimaryschool.org.uk/">Dursley C of E Primary Academy</a> and nearby <a href="https://www.cameverlands.org.uk/ofsted-dfe-performance-data/">Cam Everlands Primary School</a> or <a href="http://www.northnibley.gloucs.sch.uk/">North Nibley Primary.</a> For secondaries, <a href="https://rednockschool.org.uk/">Rednock School </a>is well thought of (newly invested in too, as above) and Ofsted rated Good. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-commute">COMMUTE</h2>



<p>Within easy reach of the M5 and just 10 mins from Cam &amp; Dursley mainline train station this town ticks the boxes for commuters. You can be in London in under 2 hrs hours (although you do have to change at Bristol). Bit of a jetsetter? Bristol airport is a mere 25 miles away. </p>
