Nearby, the <a href="https://www.coachandhorsesinn.co.uk/">Coach &amp; Horses Inn</a> is an award-winning country pub that welcomes muddy paws and muddier boots, and does a cracking Sunday roast.  is The <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Johal91/">Tudor Rose Fish Bar</a> is your go-to for a chippy supper and <a href="https://www.newdilshad.co.uk/">The New Dilshad</a> serves up Indian cuisine. <a href="https://www.ginandpickles.co.uk/">Gin &amp; Pickles</a> in the Village Square hosts fabulous gin tastings and supper clubs too.</p>

You&#8217;ll find everything you need here, from a butchers and pharmacy to a barbers, hair salons, picture framers and supermarket. Head to <a href="https://www.thebaytreeshop.com/">The Bay Tree</a> on Snake Lane for heavenly handmade candles and gifts and find all your garden needs met at <a href="https://www.hopwoodgardencentre.co.uk/">Hopwood Garden Centre </a>nearby. It&#8217;s a 5 min drive to a bigger assortment in Barnt Green, including&nbsp;<a href="https://villagevineyards.co.uk/shop/">Village Vineyards</a>, perfect for picking up specialist world wines, <a href="https://www.hollywoodcollections.online/">Hollywood Collections</a>&nbsp;for high-end fashion and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.facebook.com/joolzbarntgreen/?locale=en_GB">Joolz</a>, for womenswear and accessories. </p>

<p>The central village hall hosts a year-round calendar of wellbeing classes, from Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates to Dance and Moon Meditation sessions. Alvechurch Medical Centre is located in the central Village Square, and <a href="https://alvechurchdental.co.uk/">Alvechurch Dental</a> will take care of the gnashers. Head to Redditch 10 mins away for a selection of gyms such as <a href="https://thefitclubredditch.co.uk/">The Fit Club</a>, if weights and PBs are your bag.</p>

<p>The togetherness factor is big here. The <a href="https://alvechurchlounge.org.uk/">Alvechurch Lounge</a> is one example, a community café offering a host of free events designed to decrease loneliness and boost health and happiness of the locals, both young and old. There are plenty of village groups to get involved with, from Alvechurch Dramatic Society to the Community Choir and Alvechurch Village Society which organises regular walks and family litter pick days. Don&#8217;t miss the Christmas Lights Switch On, with the big guy making a personal pop-up appearance and awards for Best Dressed Window in the village.</p>

<p>You’ve got a scenic place to walk, run or take the dog out with Lickey Hills right on your doorstep. If you love watersports you’ll be a big fan of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.aztecadventure.co.uk/">Aztec Adventure&nbsp;</a>at nearby Upton Warren (and Lower Moor) just 15 mins away. This watery wonderland has a thrilling inflatable aqua course, and the lake offers a range of activities from SUP to kayaking.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Alvechurch&#8217;s claim to fame? Godfrey Baseley, the man who created the iconic Radio 4 soap <em>The Archers</em>, was born here. Godfrey, the son of a local butcher, Walter Ernest Baseley, invented <em>The Archers</em> back in 1950.</p>
