<p>A serene, riverside town for most of the year, Upton-upon-Severn has a serious party side too. It bursts into life with four popular festivals during the year; the folk festival (May Bank Holiday), the <a aria-label="Jazz Festival (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.uptonjazz.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jazz Festival</a> (June), the Blues Festival (July) and a music festival (August). It&#8217;s a pretty place to live, with a bucolic waterside setting – the River Severn runs through it – and this combined with the famous Pepperpot Church Tower make it an attractive place to put down roots. There are lovely pub walks and boasts its own pretty marina, should you happen to have a boat to park up (you fancy thing). Upton has had its share of flooding, worth bearing in mind when house-hunting, but it&#8217;s a thriving, friendly small town that punches well above its weight for fun and culture. </p>

<p><a aria-label="The Boathouse (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.theboathouseupton.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Boathouse</a> is the place to go for gorgeous riverside dining with a tapas restaurant and café. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087937840676">Café No 8</a> recently opened its doors to hungry guests on Upton’s New Street and is great for hearty breakfasts and delicious lunches, you can also play a game of mini golf after your meal in the sunny courtyard. And <a aria-label="Pundit's (opens in a new tab)" href="http://pundits-upton.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pundits</a> is an Indian fusion restaurant legendary in the area for top notch Bangladeshi cooking, as is <a href="https://www.thrishnacuisine.uk/">Thrishna</a>. </p>

<p><a href="https://www.facebook.com/Gingerandpicklestraditionaltoys/?locale=en_GB">Ginger &amp; Pickles</a> is a darling toy shop that specialises in traditional, well-made toys that won&#8217;t break the bank. The quaint <a href="https://www.thepuddingshop.co.uk/">Pudding Shop </a>sells scrumptious steamed puddings (and even does workshops to learn how to make your own). The quirky <a aria-label="Map Shop (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.themapshop.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Map Shop</a> is the place to head for all your cycling or walking maps of the area and there are several antiques shops to rummage in along the main high street, such as Chrysalis Antiques and Heath Cottage Antiques, or try The Upton Emporium for gifts and trinkets.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p>Upton-Upon-Severn takes wellbeing seriously; there&#8217;s even a festival for it – <a href="https://www.facebook.com/thehealinggateway/?locale=en_GB">The Healing Gateway Festival</a>. Taking place every year, you can delve into all manner of holistic happiness here. For gym lovers, Tewkesbury and Malvern, just 10 mins each way have plenty of options, or you&#8217;ll find a range of fitness classes at the Hill Community Centre. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-community">COMMUNITY</h2>



<p>Turns out Upton-upon-Severn is a bit of a party town! Have a knees up at four popular jamborees each year; the folk festival (May Day Bank Holiday), the <a aria-label="Jazz Festival (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.uptonjazz.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jazz Festival</a> (June), the blues festival (July) and a music festival (August). All excellent community events that make it a very friendly place to live. Plus, at Christmas time there&#8217;s a festive extravaganza each year in the town centre, with live music, shopping and festive cheer in sackfuls.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-nearby-attractions">NEARBY ATTRACTIONS</h2>



<p>The area is ripe for pick-your-own fun. As well as fields of juicy berries to forage, <a href="https://clivesfruitfarm.co.uk/">Clive&#8217;s Fruit Farm </a>has a farm shop, café, children&#8217;s play area, feed the animals zone and markets at various points in the year. Hire a boat (self-drive or skippered) from <a aria-label="Severn Expeditions (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.severnexpeditions.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Severn Expeditions</a> or head to the expansive National Trust parkland of <a aria-label="Croome (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/croome" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Croome</a> with it&#8217;s beautiful, wanderable stately house and gardens.</p>

But in addition to this you&#8217;re only a 15 min drive from Malvern where you&#8217;ll find a year-round calendar of fun on at<a href="https://www.malvern-theatres.co.uk/">  </a><a href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjB5PX74dCBAxU-XEEAHZwGAMIQFnoECCQQAQ&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.malvern-theatres.co.uk%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw3rDR0WdAQ48f3pfcr_Ws4f&amp;opi=89978449">Malvern Theatres and the Three Counties Showground</a>, including The RHS Spring Festival and Winter Glow. Malvern Theatres with a year round calendar of big hitter shows is also just 20 mins west.</p>

<p>You are surrounded on all sides by stellar schools. Just 15 mins north you have the excellent <a href="https://www.ksw.org.uk/">King&#8217;s School</a> and <a href="https://www.rgsw.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Royal Grammar</a> in Worcester, both of which have pre-prep and prep schools allowing children to stay at the same school from ages 3 – 18 yrs. And south you have <a aria-label="Bredon Hall (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.bredonschool.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bredon Hall</a>, a dyslexia-friendly, day and boarding co-ed for ages 7 – 18 yrs. For state options nearby <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/money/2012/mar/16/twyningschool.ik.org">Twyning</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.bredonhancocks.worcs.sch.uk/">The Bredon Hancock&#8217;s</a>&nbsp;are Ofsted rated Good, as is secondary school <a href="http://www.hanleycastle.worcs.sch.uk/">Hanley Castle High</a>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-best-kept-secret">BEST KEPT SECRET</h2>



<p>With a population of 2,903 at the last count, Upton-Upon-Severn is one of the smallest towns in the UK. The community has won the Gold award every single year it has entered the annual &#8216;RHS in Bloom&#8217; festival.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-commute">COMMUTE</h2>



<p>The M5 passes by past a couple of miles east so it&#8217;s 50 mins to central Brum, an hour to Bristol and 30 mins to Cheltenham or Gloucester. For trains, Great Malvern and Malvern Link are only 5 miles away, and it takes approximately 2 hrs 30 mins to reach London Paddington.</p>
