Brand new for 2022 is ARC, an elegant escape with wow-factor, combining Cotswold charm with delicious 21st century design touches. Created by visionary architect-owners Tom Leahy and Eleanor Hill from the award-winning Parti Studio, the team has worked some pretty special magic on this 15th century wool merchant’s house, transforming it into a stylish yet homely getaway.

Sleeping up to 24 people, your friends and family will want to pack their bags too. Cosy up in nine beautifully styled, ensuite bedrooms all of which boast stunning views over the Painswick valley with its rolling hills and grazing sheep.

Step inside and the house feels like a tardis (see here when we visited), so you’ll never feel on top of each other. Amongst the highlights are a fully kitted out kitchen with a huge island, a dining room with long, rustic table, two separate lounge areas (one for the kids, one for you!) and a fabulous bar and snug area with a TV projector.

The guesthouse hugs an internal courtyard at its centre which has a fire pit, making it the perfect setting for nights spent sipping, eating and socialising. Or head to the garden where there’s a stunning David Hockney-inspired swimming pool – heated between April and October. Take a dip or just relax on the large terrace complete with outdoor Braai oven.

The guesthouse is all mod-conned up too, guests can log into the Lobby app to curate their stay and plan in as much as they like; from local croissants and OJ delivered to your door for breakfast and a private bartender for cocktails night, to in-house yoga and a personal photographer to document the getaway

You get the best of both worlds here, as well as access to the most stunning AONB countryside, the stay itself is located right in the heart of the pretty Cotswolds village of Painswick, with its weekly artisan food market, cafe, country pub and little boutiques to browse.
