The Crown at Ampney Brook, Ampney Crucis
A cosy and stylish 16th century inn with a stand-out riverside setting, farm-to-fork ethos and fine wines by the glass.
A cosy village pub at heart, The Crown at Ampney Brook oozes Cotswold charm. Recently having undergone a stunning restoration there’s a great buzz about this place. Set in a beautiful 16th century inn, it has been transformed into an incredibly stylish and welcoming place to unwind.
Surrounded by stunning countryside the look here is a pared back, rustic interior and there’s a delicious, seasonal menu that champions local farmers and producers. Picturesque Ampney Crucis is the largest of the three ‘Ampneys’ and set on the banks of a bucolic, babbling brook – the inspo for the pub’s new name. Watch your chef in action from the open copper kitchen, where they dish up local faves such as Old Gloucester Tomahawks and Sharing Ribeyes on a Robata Grill, as well as jazzy twists on classics like prawn cocktails and crème brulée. There’s a very relaxed vibe here, from deep comfy sofas to sink into, to pulling up a stool at the bar to watch the bartenders prepping an array of curated cocktails.
Take the party outside onto the cool Argentinian Fire Terrace which has fleeces and a firepit for those long summer nights, or make a beeline for the three private dining pods with gorgeous views over the brook. Make a proper weekend of it and stay over at Wild Thyme & Honey, The Crown’s sister boutique hotel and events retreat next door which has 24 stunning bedrooms and an exclusive events space.
