Scenic Supper is back with a brand new night
Lovers of the The Scenic Supper need not wait until the groovy glasshouses open in April because in some cool news they are teaming up with Moreton Wine Merchants in Moreton in Marsh. On from Friday 21st January for 6 consecutive weekends it’s going to be a mouth-watering Small Plates, Wine & Cocktails night. Expect 9 mouth-watering small plates available to order from 5.30pm to 9pm, no pre-orders or set menus so order what you fancy. Walk-ins are welcome or book online, and don’t miss the craft cocktails. Check out my review of these gastro geniuses here.
Arrriba! Gifford’s reveals its brand new show
We love the annual reveal of GIfford’s show and 2022 looks like it is going to be a riot of colour and theatre. This year say hello to… Carpa! The word ‘Carpa’ means ‘big top tent’ in Spanish and the 2022 show will evoke the sights and sounds of rural Mexico. Expect an explosion of Mexicana, drawing on the country’s incredible art, music, history, and people. They are even bringing Mexican performers over to join the troupe.
The UK tour opens at the Circus’s HQ in Stroud, Gloucestershire on 14th April 2022, Easter weekend, before touring the UK taking in all your favourite venues such as Bowood House & Gardens, Daylesford Organic, Sudeley Castle, Blenheim Palace, Minchinhampton Common and Stratton Meadows in Cirencester. We can’t wait to book out tickets.
Oh hellooo funky new card shop in town!
We couldn’t help but spot the new shop that has burst into life on Bath Road in Cheltenham. Jelly Armchair is a store with max sass! This family run business belongs to two sisters Cat and Liz who essentially love big silly puns and colourful illustrations (can you tell?) . All the illustrations and puns are created by the pair with occasional input by their Dad (genuine dad jokes). Check it out if you need a card or gift pronto. See them in action here (creating a pretty cool ‘Veganuary Valentines’ window!)
Good news for brides with a super stylish new opening
Weddings are back, so if you’re looking for ‘the one’ (the dress not the man) then you’ll want to seek out brand-new wedding studio and showroom, Ellie Lowe Wedding Dresses in Stroud. Specialising in beautifully designed bespoke (and also vintage) dresses, made by hand, all from her Stroud studio. And we love that as part of the B1G1 business development scheme, for every dress that Lowe sells, one month’s sewing training is given to women in Bangladesh, helping them to get a job or start their own home business. Book in to the new bridal boutique on Russell Street. For more information contact Ellie Lowe Wedding Dresses.
Owner of Imperial Haus stars on The Apprentice (week 2 and she’s still in)
Did you know owner of Cheltenham’s new ‘enchanted bar’ Imperial Haus is on the tellybox? As if opening her magical bar wasn’t enough 32-year-old Sophie Wilding is now battling for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 and the Apprentice trophy. Catch her this Thursday night, were keeping everything crossed!
One for the over 30s ravers (no really)
Why should the under-25s have all the fun?! If you don’t fancy rubbing shoulders with Tik Tokking teens in the town centre, and want to party at a civilised time (erm, we do have to get up in the morning) then book tickets for this brilliant nightclub event at Far Peak near Chedworth. If you are over 30 and fancy going ‘out, out’ then go along to this pop-up nightclub on Saturday 12th February. Get the babysitter booked, glad rags on and glow sticks lit – this is going off. Tickets are £10 and £15 on the door with an early start and finish 5.30pm – 11pm), two live DJ sets (House classics from the 90s and 00s) and Electro House Anthems. There’s a quieter bar so you can have a conversation and a rest from dancing, outside chill out spaces, cocktails and craft beers and artisan takeaway food (no dirrty kebabs here). Free parking and safe pick -up spaces
Because BBQs are not just for summer… head to Five Valleys latest opening
There’s a new mouth-watering opening at Five Valleys hawkers-style street food market, and we think it’s definitely worth a visit. The BBQ Society is owned by chefs Ben Williams and Sophie Tinsley who were furloughed from their hospitality and fashion design roles during the pandemic, so they decided to start selling their homemade BBQ sauce to friends and neighbours to top up their income. Fast forward two years and the BBQ Society is the place to go for amazing year-round BBQ food. Check them, and on late night Fridays at the market (open till 9pm).
Fitness lovers, you’ll be all over the new opening on Cheltenham Prom
Rejoice lycra lovers, popular athleisure brand Sweaty Betty is opening new store on Cheltenham’s Promenade, transforming the space left empty by previous owner T2. The new fitness wear destination opens from Monday 24 January 2022. Oo, and get down early, because we hear that the first 50 customers through the doors at Sweaty Betty Cheltenham will receive a goodie bag at the launch.
And finally, some good news if you want local food without budging from the sofa….
Those peddling purveyors of the takeaway have announced they are launching in Cirencester – hurrar! In celebration of the launch, they are offering new customers £10 off their first order when you sign up to the platform (use the code NEWROOTOWN11 at checkout.)
