<p>You&#8217;re spoilt for choice here. <a aria-label="The Canteen  (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.thecanteennailsworth.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Canteen </a>is a wonderfully quirky cafe where everyone flocks for locally-sourced food prepared from scratch. <a aria-label="William’s Food Hall and Oyster Bar (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.williamsfoodhall.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">William’s Food Hall and Oyster Bar</a> does incredible oysters and lobster and has an alfresco terrace overlooking the town centre. <a aria-label="Egypt Mill (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.egyptmill.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Egypt Mill</a> is a good all-rounder for waterside eating and the award-winning, popular <a aria-label="Olive Tree (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.theolivetree-nailsworth.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Olive Tree</a> has great food and an outside covered terrace for alfresco dining.</p>



<p>If you&#8217;re a coffee lover, there are lots of great pit-stops including <a href="https://www.hobbshousebakery.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hobbs House Bakery</a> (owned by TV&#8217;s Fabulous Baker Brothers – Tom and Henry Herbert) and <a href="https://www.willow-and-co.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Willow &amp; Co,</a> a darling little coffee and cake shop and lifestyle store. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/bakedbybethstroud/photos" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Baked By Beth</a>, is a fantastic bakery and café with a twist, selling innovative plant-based cakes and brownies, all vegan, gluten and refined sugar-free (and oh so delicious). </p>

<p>Nailsworth town centre is awash with proudly indie boutiques. Award-winning boutique <a href="https://www.armedandgorgeous.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Armed and Gorgeous</a> is jewellery heaven and <a aria-label="James Lear of Arundel (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.jameslearofarundel.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">James Lear of Arundel</a>, has racks of gorgeous gifts. Naily is wonderfully arty, so if statement pieces are your thing drop into <a href="https://www.formgallery.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Form Gallery </a>which always has beautiful pieces in. <a href="https://www.jacarandanailsworth.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jacaranda Flowers</a> will be your go-to for greenery year round.</p>



<p>One of Muddy&#8217;s favourite places to browse is <a aria-label="Domestic Science (opens in a new tab)" href="https://domesticsciencehome.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Domestic Science</a>, an emporium of vintage and lifestyle gems. It has just expanded too and reopened on the main high street. If you&#8217;re after fashion stop at <a href="http://www.daisyjaneclothing.co.uk/home/about" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Daisy Jane</a>, this place is a little gem, sourcing gorgeous, on-trend clothes and accessories at very affordable prices.  Others we love? Try Holy Spirits for world whiskeys, gins and rums and <a href="https://bettyandbeatties.ecwid.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Betty &amp; Beattie&#8217;s</a> for vintage furniture finds.</p>



<p><a href="https://www.vinotopiawine.co.uk/the-wine-barn" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vinotopia&#8217;s Wine Barn</a>, located next door to the brilliant Nailsworth Garden Centre, is the place to pick up world wines and there&#8217;s a cavernous whole foods store right next door. Love a market? Take your basket to the Farmers’ Market every fourth Saturday of the month.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p>Nailsworth might be small, but it’s packed with top spots for looking after your health and wellbeing. Yoga is plentiful here – try the lovely <a href="https://www.graceandglow.studio/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Grace and Glow</a> Studio on the high street, offering everything from gentle hatha to energising vinyasa.</p>



<p>For strength training without the shouty gym crowd, try <a href="https://www.goldenvalleycrossfit.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden Valley Crossfit</a>. or Nailsworth Strength Gym. A few minutes away, try <a href="https://www.stroudskyyoga.com/aerialyoga" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stroud Aerial Yoga</a> if you&#8217;re feeling bored with the usual bends.  </p>

For fresh air and community vibes, go on one of the Wellbeing Walks from the library, a sociable, scenic win. </p>

<p>This pocket-sized Cotswold town punches well above its weight with a calendar full of feel-good happenings: from the brilliant <a href="https://nailsworthfestival.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nailsworth Festival</a> every spring (think local bands, street food and a big, buzzy vibe), to the Friday farmers’ market where you’ll find everyone from organic veg growers to candle makers having a natter. There are also great artsy hubs here, like <a href="https://rmt.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ruskin Mill </a>and <a href="https://www.threestoreys.co.uk/whats-on" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Three Storeys</a> on Old Bristol Road, where you can get together with kindred creative spirits to create and craft.</p>

<p>Head to <a aria-label="Minchinhampton and Rodborough Common (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/minchinhampton-and-rodborough-commons" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Minchinhampton and Rodborough Common</a> via the Nailsworth Ladder – a lovely wooded route (or by car for the less energetic). Make it to the top and be treated to miles of stunning walks, incredible 360° views and free-roaming cattle. </p>



<p>Pop in for ice-cream at <a aria-label="Winstone's (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.winstonesicecream.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Winstone&#8217;s</a> ice-cream parlour in the middle of the Common and end up at <a aria-label="The Bear of Rodborough (opens in a new tab)" href="https://glosworcs.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/the-bear-of-rodborough/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Bear of Rodborough</a>, a huge country pub with a funky beer garden. Nearby you could also pay a visit to the Gothic <a aria-label="Woodchester Mansion (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.woodchestermansion.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Woodchester Mansion</a>, a stunning building that now has Henry&#8217;s café serving up great coffee and brunches. The Canteen also has regular live music at its Supper Clubs from Cellar Door and more. Dip into the joys of <a href="https://www.threestoreys.co.uk/whats-on" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Three Storeys</a> in the town centre, a multi-functional creative arts venue with an ever-changing gallery space and calendar of events. Just 10 mins away, neighbouring Stroud is culture central. Head to the&nbsp;<a href="https://thesubrooms.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sub Rooms</a>&nbsp;for national headline-grabbing artists galore, comedy and live music.</p>

You&#8217;re spoilt for choice with grammars for both sexes with <a href="https://marling.gloucs.sch.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Marling Grammar School</a> and <a href="http://stroudhigh.gloucs.sch.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stroud High School for Girls</a> both minutes away in Stroud. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-best-kept-secret">BEST KEPT SECRET</h2>



<p>Nailsworth-based football club Forest Green Rovers is the first fully vegan club in the country. In 2017, FIFA described FGR as ‘the greenest football club in the world’ and it&#8217;s the first club to be certified as carbon neutral by the United Nations. Latest update? You&#8217;re likely to spot Wales midfielder Robbie Savage wandering around – he&#8217;s just been appointed manager.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-commute">COMMUTE</h2>



<p>Hop on the train to London Paddington from Stroud station 10 mins away, for a direct 1 hr 30 min commute to the capital. Nailsworth is well connected to the M5 and M4 for those jaunts up and down the country to Bristol or Cheltenham (half an hour each way).</p>
