Bathurst Arms, Organic Roast, North Cerney, Cirencester
This recently madeover pub with its lovely circus-themed riverside yurt outside and snug indoor tables serves up exceptional food, with an emphasis on local, sustainable and organic fare. Sunday lunch is £17 and includes mouth-waterers such as Roast ‘BBQ’ Tom Long beef brisket, crispy beef, horseradish cream, Pork shoulder, crackling, apple sauce and Beetroot & mushroom wellington, garlic & mushroom wellington served with all the trimmings.
The Suffolk Arms, Cheltenham
It proclaims itself the ‘Best Roast in the Cotswolds’ and who are we to argue? Check out these yorkies. Serving up sirloin of beef with mustard creamed onions, double breasted chicken, pork sirloin and a veggie option, a slap up Sunday meal starts from £17 here.
The Farmers Boy, Longhope, Glos

The Bell at Sapperton, Sapperton near Cirencester
One of Muddy’s favourite Sunday lunch hang outs for the warm vibe and wonderful food, you get an amazing and locally sourced roast here. Served with roast potatoes, Gloucestershire pudding, curly kale, braised carrot and cauliflower cheese choose from roast sirloin of longhorn beef, Kelmscott belly of pork, roast leg of Cotswolds lamb or Chef’s nut roast. Meals range from £14 to £19.
The Green Dragon Inn, Cockleford, Glos
Roaring fires, beamed ceilings, stone flagged floors and a Sunday roast that tastes like it was homecooked are the hallmarks of this lovely country pub. Not only that, this rustic retreat was crowned Muddy Stilettos Best Destination Pub 2021! So they must be doing something right.
The Tavern Inn, Kemble, Glos
The Tavern’s roasts are cooked fresh each week using only locally sourced vegetables and meats if you want to keep your meal super sustainable and local. Go the whole (roast) hog and get ALL four sunday roast meats for £15 on your plate. Mmmm.
The Trouble House, near Tetbury, Glos
This fabulously quirky pub was taken over by Jacqui and Alyn Squires during lockdown 1.0. So if you want to show your support book in for one of their absolutely delicious takeaway roasts on a Sunday between 12pm and 3pm. There’s a choice of chicken or aged roast beef for £17 with all the extras and a Harissa Cauliflower option for veggies. We’re in.
The Queens Hotel, Cheltenham
Go for Regency surroundings with your roast at The Queens in Montpellier. A succulent beef siroin or half chicken with rosemary & thyme potatoes, yorkies and pan gravy looks utterly delicious. Snap up two courses for £25 at the stylish Victoria’s restaurant here, three for £30 or upgrade it with a Mimosa or Bellini for an extra £9.50 why not. Served from 12 noon until 3 pm.
The Bear of Rodborough, Stroud
This large country pub is set just minutes from Stroud but slap bang in the middle of the National Trust’s Rodborough Common, so if you want a roast with a view head here. On the menu is the likes of roast sirloin of beef, duck fat roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, truffled cauliflower cheese, veal gravy, Yorkshire pudding for £17 and more. There’s a butternut squash vegan option too for £16.
Egypt Mill, Nailsworth, Glos
This great find has the most idyllic setting above a rover with a water wheel, and does tip top food. From Dry aged native breed roasted sirloin of beef (£17.95) or if you’re feeling friendly with your co-eater go for the Whole Roasted Chicken Sharer for two for £34.95 served family-style fo you to carve at the table with duck fat roasted potatoes, maple glazed rainbow root vegetables & cabbage, pigs in blankets and lashings of gravy. Vegan options are available too.
Ostlers at No.1, Worcester, Worcs
Head to the heart of Worcester for a Sunday pick-me-up. Sunday roasts are available between 12pm and 5pm (later than many other places). You can even take-away if you want to chow down by your own log fire. Otherwise go beef, pork or chicken with honey glazed parsnips, cauliflower cheese and crackling sunday sides. with two courses just £23.95.
The Fleece Inn, near Evesham, Worcs
This lovely rustic pub owned by the National Trust and CAMRA Pub of the Year 2020 serves up chicken, lamb, beef, pork and nut roast and there are also gluten-free options. Eat in or opt for takeaway or delivery, and order online or by phone.
The Why Not Inn, Redditch, Worcs
There’s an amazing choice of seven Sunday roasts here including the aptly named The BIG ONE (£16) which comes with or gammon with all the trimming and seasonal greens. Plump for a Vegan Mushroom Wellington as an alternative and they do Kids Roasts too from just £7. You can order extra sides like pigs in blankets from the drop down menu online and there is a choice of collection or delivery from 12pm to 5.45pm.
The White Hart Inn, Droitwich Spa, Worcs
This traditional pub run by owners Jim and Helen prides itself on serving up hearty Sunday roasts and their takeaways are brilliant value. Served up between 12pm and 3pm on a Sunday your choice of chicken or beef with the trimmings is priced at £11.
