Want 9 HOT reasons to go to the Cotswold Country Park & Beach this summer? There’s a whole season of fun going on at this fantastic destination this year. Read on for what’s in store at the shore.
1. Pretend you’re abroad at the stunning beach
Home to the largest inland paddling beach in the UK, the park features a super sandy shoreline where the kids can build sandcastles and muck about all day whilst you recline on your pop-up sun lounger with a mocktail. There is a beautiful swimming lagoon to dip into when it gets a bit too hot. You could almost be in the Algarve!
2. Grab some delicious food at the Beach Shack
The Beach Shack Cafe sits right on the water’s edge on a pretty boardwalk, so it gives all the holiday feels! There are grill options, a big range of burgers, and a great kids menu. Top tip: The Sea and Air Burger a triumph. Everything is freshly cooked on the spot and is super delicious.
3. Roll up, roll up! See the circus
A big hit in the summer, Tolly’s Sumer Circus is starring at the Park from 22 July to 01 September. There are three shows lasting 40 minutes each so they won’t get too fidgety too. Daily shows are at 12pm, 2.30pm and 4pm with tickets just £4 per person. Expect amazing acrobatics, and belly laughs by the bucket load from Lawson’s Circus Troupe. Booking ahead is highly recommended.
4. Catch an alfresco movie at the Open Air Cinema
Brand new for 2022 is a fantastic new cinema experience. Catch Jurassic Park on Friday 09 September and The Greatest Showman on Saturday 10 September. The gates open at 6.30pm and the curtain goes up at 8pm. ADults tickets are £13.50 (16+) and under 16s and students are £11.50. Or why not snap up a premium deck chair seat with a blanket for £18.50. You can bring your own camping chairs, picnic rugs, deckchairs or similar. Bring your own picnic or enjoy food and drink at the Beach Shack.
5. Thrill out at Aquaventure
Check out the largest inflatable water park in Glos. If awesome action-packed obstacles are your thing you’ll love this. Race friends and family on the giant inflatable course. Climb the Incredible Mammoth Tower, bounce on the amazing Tornado, have fun on the slides and more on the ultimate total wipeout experience.
6. Swan about on the lake
One of our favourite things to do here – book your friends or family onto one of the brilliant Swan Pedalos. Take them out for a swim for either half an hour or an hour, it’s the best fun. These four seater crafts will transport you around the lake which is a giant nature reserve where you’ll spot all kinds of birds and wildlife.
7. Go paddleboarding or kayaking
It’s water sports a-plenty here and it’s a great place to try your hand at paddle-boarding or kayaking, or if you’re already a pro just glide about! Book ahead as they get snapped up quickly on hot days. Still want more water action? Hire out a rowing boat too.
8. Pitch up for a summer BBQ
Pitch up for the day and make a real day of it by stoking up a BBQ. Just hire a pre-set up pitch and you’re ready to go. All day hire is from 10am to 6pm in peak season and you get a 4.5ft barbecue cooking area. Just bring your own food, charcoal, lighter, cooking equipment, plates and utensils. Hire is £30.
7. And don’t miss…
Other great activities to get stuck into include a whizzy go-kart track for the kids, a giant adventure playground and the fun junior climbing wall right by the beach. The littles will also love the enclosed play area with slides, swings and tunnels to explore.
