The Fresh Fish Market here is like the Harrod&#8217;s of the Forest of Dean, with more seafood than you can shake a large crab stick at. Head Chef Tommy Thorne &#8211; yep, the MasterChef finalist himself &#8211; has a flair for bold flavours and outrageously pretty plates and he&#8217;s pulling out all the stops for New Year’s Eve.

Expect the good stuff: pan-fried turbot topped with N25 caviar and winter truffle, a silky Noilly Prat sauce doing the heavy lifting; a saddle of Killean Estate sika deer with black garlic and wild mushrooms; and, of course, the Severn &amp; Wye smoked salmon making its star turn with dill granita and compressed apple. Every dish is peak Tommy &#8211; so don the sparkly (and loose) party gear &#8211; it&#8217;ll be worth it.



Tickets are £100 a head, with an optional wine flight.
