<p>With an unmistakable velvety voice that first turned heads on&nbsp;<em>The X Factor</em>&nbsp;back in 2010, singer-songwriter Rebecca Ferguson has gone on to carve out an illustrious career. </p>



<p>Performing with legends such as Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli and Nile Rodgers, not to mention penning five acclaimed albums. Oh, and did we mention she’s now Rebecca Ferguson <em>MBE</em>? The honour dropping last year in recognition of her work championing fairness in the music industry &#8211; high notes and high standards.</p>



<p>Now celebrating 15 fabulous years in the business, she&#8217;s heading out on a series of intimate shows in&nbsp;<em>15 Years Stripped Back</em>&nbsp;&#8211; featuring her biggest hits, favourite covers and a few stories along the way.</p>



<p>We caught up with the songstress for a heart-to-heart on music, motherhood and making her voice heard. From fame and self-love to homemade body butter and her unexpected shopping indulgence.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-we-love-the-sound-of-15-years-stripped-back-what-made-you-want-to-do-it">We love the sound of <em>15 Years Stripped Back</em>, what made you want to do it?</h2>



<p>I&#8217;ve never done stripped back concerts before, so it&#8217;s a new concept for me. It was just proposed to me and I thought, well, why not. Lauren hill did a stripped back style tour years ago, and I really loved how real and authentic it was. I think it&#8217;s good that fans get to hear an unfiltered version of me.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-s-the-one-thing-fame-has-taught-you">What’s the one thing fame has taught you?</h2>



<p>Fame has taught me that I am enough, and that I never needed fame to teach me that. I had to gain the whole world to see that the thing I most needed was to love myself. It&#8217;s also taught me that my home life is everything, for me it spotlights that the simple things in life are the best things.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-did-it-feel-getting-the-mbe-for-services-to-the-music-industry-it-s-quite-the-accolade">How did it feel getting the MBE for services to the music industry? It&#8217;s quite the accolade.</h2>



<p>It&#8217;s lovely, and I was so happy to get it, it was a brilliant day out and felt like a real honour, I actually have to keep it safely away in my desk as I have a toddler, which as any parent will know is a risk with shiny things!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-do-you-look-back-to-your-2010-x-factor-days-fondly-or-with-any-regrets">Do you look back to your 2010 X-factor days fondly, or with any regrets? </h2>



<p>It was a wild and amazing experience, I have no regrets at all, it shaped me into who I am and was a big part of my journey. I am grateful for all of the lessons it taught me, I think it has helped me to grow into the person I am today. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-your-career-s-taken-you-from-liverpool-to-la-where-do-you-feel-most-like-yourself">Your career’s taken you from Liverpool to LA, where do you feel most like yourself?</h2>



<p>I&#8217;m a home bird &#8211; a typical Cancerian! I love going out but love nothing more than chilling with a glass of good red wine. I love making a home and family life, it&#8217;s just who I am which is why you don&#8217;t see me on the celeb circuit, that’s why you don’t see me at the showbiz parties. I love a glass of Champagne but a glass of Prosecco with my mates at home is better.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-you-re-now-a-mama-to-four-children-too-what-s-that-like-and-do-they-listen-to-your-music">You’re now a mama to four children too, what&#8217;s that like? And do they listen to your music?</h2>



<p>It&#8217;s hard work and the best work. They&#8217;re my life and most of my time is taken up being with them and running my home. When it comes to my music I think they have heard it enough they&#8217;re honest though, if they like a song and if they don&#8217;t they&#8217;re brutal!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-your-songs-have-such-emotional-honesty-is-there-a-particular-song-that-gives-you-goosebumps">Your songs have such emotional honesty, is there a particular song that gives <em>you </em>goosebumps?</h2>



<p>On an emotional level <em><a href="https://youtu.be/y8UWa_I8vX0?si=ItxQd19za1HXPaoL">Teach Me How To Be Loved</a></em> is a deeply reflective song about learning to love again, and it always gets me when I sing it. And for a song from another artist, I love Billie Eilish&#8217;s <em>When the Party is Over</em>, it&#8217;s vocally brilliant and beautiful.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-you-ve-spoken-openly-about-empowerment-for-women-in-music-especially-in-the-face-of-bullying-in-the-industry-tell-us-why-it-matters-nbsp">You’ve spoken openly about empowerment for women in music &#8211; especially in the face of bullying in the industry. Tell us why it matters?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>I think women have been suppressed for centuries it started with religion and politics and it&#8217;s now systemic and deeply ingrained. It&#8217;s important because it&#8217;s 2025 we can&#8217;t be having these old ideas of power and it&#8217;s important people feel safe in their work place and freelancers are often forgotten, so I fought hard for them.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-share-with-us-your-non-negotiable-self-care-ritual">Share with us your non-negotiable, self-care ritual?</h2>



<p>I actually make my own body butter with essential oils so applying those and a face massage is a must!&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tell-us-three-things-we-d-find-in-your-handbag-right-now-if-we-had-a-rummage">Tell us three things we’d find in your handbag right now, if we had a rummage?</h2>



<p>Makeup, perfume and old receipts, I&#8217;m basically Lola Young’s song<em> Messy</em>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-if-you-could-have-dinner-with-any-musical-icons-who-s-at-your-table-and-who-s-getting-the-karaoke-mic">If you could have dinner with any musical icons, who’s at your table &#8211; and who’s getting the karaoke mic?</h2>



<p>My all-time icons would be Whitney Houston, Marilyn Monroe and the guy who played Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind! Wait, did he sing? Anyway&#8230; he would need to be there. Oh, and not forgetting Jesus and Maya Angelo. Any of them could take the mic.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-are-you-listening-to-on-repeat-at-the-moment">What are you listening to on repeat at the moment? </h2>



<p>Dance classics. Old school.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-and-finally-tell-us-something-about-yourself-that-would-surprise-us">And finally, tell us something about yourself that would surprise us?</h2>



<p>I love antiques and second had shops old porcelain. I&#8217;m basically a granny in a younger body.</p>
