Say hello to <a href="https://hyllhotel.com/">Hyll</a>, the hottest new stay in the Cotswolds. This fully restored Grade II-listed, 17th-century manor house is a brand-new bolthole serving up countryside escapism. Its big sell? Everything is aimed at embracing the fine art of doing, well, absolutely nothing (our kind of place!).

Designed by Manchester-based YOUTH design studio, it&#8217;s plush but pared-back, with calming tones, heavenly Naturalmat beds, three chic lounges, plush sofas to sink into and a bar for evening cocktails by the fire, and a stand-out restaurant that’s big on locally sourced dishes. 



Curl up with a good book from their literary partner, local shop Borzoi Books (the bookcases and tables rotate brand new titles every month, with reviews on the front to help you pick), put on some vinyl in the listening room, or have a facial or massage from the drop in wellness team.



The whole place has been designed to feel like a home-from-home (there&#8217;s not even a check-in desk &#8211; friendly staff just come and meet you!), you even get given a little book of how to do nothing in your welcome pack. Set in 60 tranquil acres just minutes from Chipping Campden, it&#8217;s the kind of place you won&#8217;t want to leave. Watch out for the Muddy review coming soon.

Calling all hygge hunters – your new happy place is about to drop anchor at Gloucester Quays. Søstrene Grene, the Danish lifestyle brand with cult status, is opening its second Glos store this autumn.



Minimalist Scandi design meets everyday magic here: think design-led kitchen kit, seasonal styling inspo, crafty treasures and gifting gold, all at purse-friendly prices. Basically, the kind of shop you “pop into for a candle” and leave with an armful of chic homeware. 



And this isn’t an Ikea-esque grab-and-go dash. Instead, think soft lighting, calming classical music and a layout that lulls you into slow-browsing bliss. Opening later this year at the historic docks, the exact date is still hush-hush.

Well, this is rather fabulous. British heritage brand and Chelt favourite Holland Cooper has just dropped The Icon Series &#8211; a glossy new campaign that’s less about clothes and more about celebrating the women who wear them. 



The lead women? Mary Berry, all-round treasure and the nation&#8217;s star baker; Clare Balding, broadcaster and inclusivity champion; Lisa Dwan, acclaimed actor, writer and director, Jodie Kidd, supermodel and philanthropist; and of course Jade Holland Cooper, the brand boss.

Cotswolds darling Daylesford Organic has just stirred up something deliciously exciting &#8211; a shiny new partnership with M&amp;S. Not local to Daylesford? You&#8217;re now in luck. From September 2025, you’ll be able to pick up Daylesford’s much–loved organic soups and broths at 150 M&amp;S stores up and down the UK.



Crafted on the farm in Kingham, near Stow-on-the-Wold, the range includes nourishing chicken bone broth and vibrant pea and watercress soup, made with ingredients grown in the Cotswolds fields. They may not be cheap &#8211; priced at £6.25–£7.25 &#8211; but these pots of organic goodness bring Daylesford’s farm-to-spoon philosophy straight onto the high street.

The Cotswolds just got a serious celebrity upgrade.&nbsp;Bey and Jay Z are about to snap up 58 acres just outside an Oxfordshire village &#8211; Muddy first reported this back in June, so clearly negotiations went smoother than a Henny &amp; coke.<a href="https://glosworcs.muddystilettos.co.uk/travel/uk/travel-guides/insider-guide-to-the-cotswolds-gloucestershire-worcestershire/"> Maybe our Cotswolds guide for her helped seal the deal?</a> 



The land set them back a casual £7.5 million (pocket change for the Carters) and comes with planning permission for a proper country estate. Rumour has it they’re dreaming up a zen lakeside retreat &#8211; quite the glow-up. She’s already been spotted at Burford Garden Centre with Jay Z, so clearly she’s ready to go full on with the Cotswold lifestyle.

France’s most famous theme park (second only to Disneyland) has submitted plans to the tune of a whopping £600m to build a site just off of Junction 10 of the M40, just north of Bicester. <a href="https://www.puydufou.com/france/en/must-see-france" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Puy du Fou </a>specialises in bringing history to life through immersive experiences and period villages, Bicester’s set to have four and there’s no cardboard backdrops or garish mascots here. 



Plans laid out to the Council this month include three on-site hotels and 40 acres of wildflower meadow and, if approved, the build will start next year with the park opening to the public in 2029. You can bet Muddy will be there for that ribbon cutting. Park bosses also predict that Puy du Fou will give the local economy a £500m boost and provide thousands of jobs, which surely calls for Champagne and plenty of it.
