8 Reasons to go to Gloucester Quays

Tired of trudging the same retail pavements? Take a fresh look at Gloucester Quays. With an open air vibe, a whopping 70% off designer brands (erm, yes please) and a foodie and fun quarter, here are 8 things not to miss.

A shopper’s paradise, Gloucester Quays is home to designer and high street fashion brands, including more than 60 top names and is now one of the fastest growing outlets in the UK. Add to this the fact you can feast at one of 11 brilliant restaurants, hit a cool bar for a cocktail then catch a movie, the only question remaining is how to fit it all in!

Muddy loves this outlet centre (regularly spottable sneaking out of All Saints, Ted Baker or Crew with a bag) not least because of it’s appealing alfresco design – there’s a light and bright indoor loop and a big outdoor section – and it’s stunning setting right on the Gloucester Docks.

Want 8 more reasons to head down? Read on.

Bag an absolute designer bargain

Did you know that there are more than 60 designers and high street fashion brands here, with up to 70% off! Sounds amazing, and it is. Stores include the likes of All Saints, Calvin Klein, Osprey, Dune, White Stuff, Joules, Adidas, Radley, Ted Baker, Skechers, Levi’s, Clarks, Crew Clothing, an M & S Outlet and loads more. It’s got everything covered from fashion and footwear to home accessories, health, beauty, toys, gifts and beyond.

Shop for artisan goodies at Orchard Street Market

You’ll find the brilliant Orchard Market located in the pretty waterside plaza between the outlet and the canal. It’s a fabulous market to browse, with more than 70 stalls offering a selection of local artisan food and drink, gifts, craft, and fantastic street food stalls. Find it at the Quays on the first weekend of every month.

Try the ultimate hot chocolate

If you’re as much of a chocoholic as we are, then you have to drop by Hotel Chocolat. Stock up on your fave gourmet choc here, all at outlet prices (of course), and the best bit? The Hot Chocolate Bar! Get a creamy hot choc made from real Hotel Chocolat bars. Our top tips? Try the Hazelnut Hot Chocolate and the Billionaires Sundae Brownie. And if you still haven’t had your fill, top up your chocolate stash at Lindt, which has a fun pick n’ mix bar.

It’s a foodies’ paradise

How about a French cheese sharing platter on the alfresco terrace at Cote Brasserie? Or some spicy Ramen in the buzzy atmosphere of Wagamamas? And that’s just for starters. There are 11 restaurants to choose from here, including Bill’s, Coal Kitchen, Pizza Express, Five Guys, Nandos and Zizzi. Breakfast, lunch and dinner sorted.

Explore the historic dockyard

Balance the retail therapy with a dose of culture, with a visit to the National Waterways Museum housed in the old Llanthony Warehouse next door to the outlet. A fascinating place that charts the 200-year history of the docks and the canal. This Grade II listed former grain warehouse is a fab visit and has had a £1m Heritage Lottery Fund refresh. Kids’ll love the interactive exhibits, café and museum shop. Top tip: Buy a ticket and it allows you to return as many times as you like in 12 months. Then take a wander along the pretty canalside and watch the boats go past.

Grab a cocktail at the bar

If you love a cocktail don’t miss a visit to the cool and quirky Portivo Lounge. One of a few bars here, our top tip? Try the Caramel Apple Daiquiri. Made with Five Hundred Cuts from BrewDog and Moose, the spiced maple spirit and shaken hard with caramel, apple and lime to create a foaming Daiquiri. Or sip on a Prosecco and Passionfruit Martini at Bill’s with a friend as you watch the world go by. Bliss! And have you lived if you haven’t tried Bills’ new Disco Inferno Passionfruit Martini? (above). We reckon not!

Catch a new movie

There are a whopping 10 screens here at Gloucester Quays, so settle in for a film. The state-of-the-art Cineworld complex features the very latest in digital sound and projection. We love the comfortable, wider seats.

Still want more?

You can also get a workout here (if your shopping trip hasn’t burnt off enough calories that is). The state-of-the-art equipment at award-winning ‘The Gym’ and training space is open 24 hours a day. There’s no contract and monthly prices start at just £14.99 per month.
